Restaurant, Kitchen and Hotel Flooring in Greater Vancouver

Slip-resistant commercial kitchen floors, durable dining rooms and quiet hotel corridors, installed in tight closure windows.

In hospitality, every day closed is lost revenue. Restaurants, bars and hotels need floors that handle grease, spills, heat and heavy foot traffic, and they need them installed fast. Papa Flooring installs commercial kitchen flooring in Vancouver, works as a restaurant flooring contractor for owners and GCs, and supplies hotel flooring for corridors, rooms and public areas.

Commercial kitchen flooring

Kitchen floors fail for predictable reasons: hot water and steam cause thermal shock, fats and food acids attack weak coatings, and grout lines in tile trap grease. Urethane cement, part of our epoxy and resin flooring work, is typically the right answer. It is seamless, tolerates temperature swings from fryers to walk-in coolers, and can be textured for traction.

Integral cove and drains

An integral cove carries the floor up the wall in one piece, removing the joint where dirt and water collect. We also slope and detail the floor around trench and floor drains so water goes where it should. Health inspectors look for smooth, durable, non-absorbent and easily cleanable surfaces in food areas, and a seamless coved floor is designed to meet that expectation.

Slip resistance

Wet, greasy kitchen floors are a major slip hazard for staff. We choose the aggregate and texture to balance grip against cleanability, and our safety and anti-slip flooring options extend to dish pits, prep areas and staff washrooms.

Dining rooms, bars and hotels

Front of house is about the look and the feel. Commercial LVT gives wood and stone looks that handle spilled drinks and chair scuffs, and planks can be replaced individually. Polished concrete suits casual dining and bars that want an industrial feel with no waxing. In hotels, carpet tile reduces corridor noise for guests and allows damaged sections to be replaced without closing a whole floor.

Closures measured in days

  • Fast-cure systems so kitchens can typically reopen within a short closure
  • Overnight or off-hours installs for dining rooms and bars
  • Hotel work phased floor by floor or room block by room block
  • Removal of old tile and coatings, with substrate repair, in the same schedule

Older kitchens often have damaged slabs, failed tile or saturated concrete. We assess and test the substrate first and handle repair through our subfloor preparation service, so the new floor is not undermined by old problems.

Hospitality projects across Greater Vancouver

We work with restaurants in Gastown and across Vancouver, as well as in Richmond and North Vancouver. Tell us your closure window and send your plans, or request a consultation, and we will build the schedule around your reopening date.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best commercial kitchen flooring?

Urethane cement with an integral cove is typically the best commercial kitchen flooring. It resists thermal shock, grease and hot water, and its seamless surface is easy to keep clean.

How long does a restaurant kitchen need to close for new flooring?

It depends on the size, the condition of the existing floor and the system. Many kitchen floors can typically be completed in a closure of a few days. We confirm timing after the site assessment.

Will a new floor help with health inspections?

Health inspectors generally look for smooth, durable, non-absorbent and easily cleanable surfaces in food areas. A seamless coved floor is designed to meet that expectation, though inspections cover much more than flooring.

Do you install hotel flooring?

Yes. We install carpet tile and LVT in hotel corridors and guest rooms, plus floors for lobbies, restaurants and washrooms, phased to keep the hotel operating.

Can you work as a restaurant flooring contractor for our GC?

Yes. We work directly with owners and as the flooring trade for general contractors on restaurant fit-outs, following the drawings and schedule.
